About TaLe

The Teaching and Learning exchange (TaLe) is the corporate gateway to quality teaching and learning resources. TaLe offers ready access to authoritative resources produced by NSW Department of Education and Training (NSW DET) and other Australian providers such as Flexible Learning Toolboxes, The Learning Federation (TLF) and Curriculum Support. TaLe also provides information to support the use of these resources and access to advice for parents as partners in the learning process.

TaLe for teachers (requires log in)

TaLe provides a pathway for each of its key audiences, Primary, Secondary and TAFE teachers. Each teacher audience has a ‘home page’ with information and selected resources specific to that group.

Searching on TaLe enables teachers to access to more than 30,000 resource records. TaLe searches over collections containing many types of digital resources including:

  • links to web sites
  • interactive resources and learning objects
  • downloadable files such as Word documents, PDF files and zipped archives
  • online resources that can be used in Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Other key features are:

  • Integrated search enabling ready access, from each page, to quality course material and professional learning resources developed specifically for use in NSW. Each resource record now has a unique save code for easier resource sharing.
  • My saved items allows teachers to access, manage and share their most commonly used TaLe searches, resources and resource lists thus saving time and effort. Saved searches can be RSS enabled to supply updates when new resources are released.
  • In focus features a selection of quality resources drawn from the resource collection that can be viewed under categorised tabs.
  • TaLe forums provide opportunities for online interaction and discussion with colleagues in NSW schools and TAFE, as well as with other NSW DET Users. TaLe forums are designed to foster online discussion as well as the sharing of resources.
  • Tools+ showcases tools and resources that support the software applications provided under DET programs such as Digital Education Revolution – NSW and Connected Classrooms Program. These pages also offer online guides to other web tools and social media.
  • News includes educational news items and events drawn from national sources such as edna.
  • Events has details of activities and conferences drawn from edna and other significant educational organisations. Teachers can find events and then download them to their own digital calendar.
