Why view, why download?

Some resources give you the option to view and/or download.

e.g. Food processing is a TAFE resource that can be viewed online or downloaded and installed on a local computer.
 

Choose download when…

• you need to use resource offline—when you are not connected to the Internet or network.
• you have a slow or intermittent Internet connection—resource can be downloaded before use
• you need to distribute the resource physically—resource can be copied to a CD-ROM or other portable media
• you need to place a resource on your school or institute intranet—resource can be copied to a shared computer.

Some resources that need to be downloaded or saved to your computer include documents such as Word, Excel, PDF and PowerPoint files; some media files; and resource packages such as zip files.

e.g. Antarctica is a unit of work that needs to be downloaded as a PDF.

Some resource packages need to be unzipped and some need to be installed before they can be used.
